Family-Owned, Columbus

Not a franchise. A family.

Cap City Closets is a family-owned custom-storage studio in Upper Arlington. The owners are on-site for every project, the designs happen in our Tremont Center showroom, and the installers are people we know by name — not subcontractors.

The People

The people behind your project.

Three people run every Cap City project — two owners and the lead installer. No hand-offs, no strangers.

Josh Stratton, co-owner of Cap City Closets in Columbus, Ohio

Co-Owner

Josh Stratton

Before closets, Josh built football programs — including years as a head coach at Canal Winchester High School. The habits that win seasons are the ones that run this studio: preparation, accountability, and a team that shows up. Josh leads design consultations at our Tremont Center showroom and stays hands-on from the first measurement to the final walkthrough.

Lisa Theado, co-owner of Cap City Closets in Columbus, Ohio

Co-Owner · Operations & Finance

Lisa Theado

Every project has a hundred moving parts, and Lisa owns all of them. She runs scheduling, budgets, and billing — which is why your quote is clear, your invoice matches it, and your install lands on the day we said it would. When you call Cap City, an owner picks up.

Seth Potter, lead installer at Cap City Closets in Columbus, Ohio

Seth Potter

Seth leads our in-house installation team — the reason most projects finish in one to two days. No subcontractors, no strangers in your home: the crew that measures your space is the crew that builds it, and Seth holds that standard on every job.

Why We Started

A local alternative to the national franchises.

We started Cap City Closets because Columbus homeowners deserved a real local choice — one where you don't get handed off, where the designer who measured your closet is the one who shows you the 3D render, and where the owners are in the build, not just in the brochure.

We're proud members of NARI of Central Ohio, we source our materials from US suppliers, and we stand behind every project with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. We also partner directly with Columbus-area builders and remodelers — see For Builders & Remodelers for how we work with the trade.

What You Get

Local, hands-on, and accountable.

When you hire Cap City Closets you get the owners, the same designer from start to finish, an in-house install team, and a warranty that lasts.

The Same Face, Every Visit

The designer who measures your closet is the one who walks you through the 3D render at the Tremont Center showroom — and the one who answers when you text a question two weeks after install. No hand-offs, no "let me check with the installer," no showing up to a job site full of strangers. Most Cap City projects run through a single point of contact from the discovery call to the last screw.

Why Local Actually Matters

A national franchise designer sees your home once. Ours drive past it. We know which Upper Arlington streets have plaster walls and which Dublin subdivisions came with wire shelving in the primary. That local memory shows up in the design — we've solved the same low-ceiling attic dormer, the same awkward corner off a 1950s hallway, the same "there's a chase behind that wall" surprise more times than we can count. It's the difference between a template and a room built for your house.
